Ethnic beauty industry makes history at City Hall

On Sunday 21st January, Salon Strategies invited over 300 of the UK’s top ethnic hair salon owners and stylists to London’s City Hall for Strictly Business! 2007. Delegates flocked to business seminars for advice from leading experts and visited displays by top hair and cosmetics brands for the latest professional products.

The day drew to an exciting close with ‘Cutting It’, the Barber University Challenge sponsored by Pro-Line Barber Select and Brent Business Ventures, and two fabulous fashion shows featuring Kulture2Couture designers. The first, from Sensationnel, featured celebrity stylist Desmond Murray who created ‘avant garde’ magic with their hair extensions. Afterwards, Luster Products used an international styling team to demonstrate the versatility of their new YOU Pro range, launching later this year.

This was the last of three history-making events organised by Salon Strategies at the prestigious venue. Earlier that week, they staged ‘…the new black!’, a conference for the ethnic beauty industry to discuss major concerns with policymakers; and ‘In Their Footsteps’, a tribute to Dyke and Dryden and other trailblazers, with guest of honour Anthony Wade MBE.

Strictly Business! is the UK’s only cross-cultural expo for the professional hair and beauty sector. Its organiser, Salon Strategies, is supported by the London Central Learning & Skills Council, European Social Fund and London Development Agency.
