The CourseThe Career Makeover comprises an NVQ Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing. Qualifications: L3 Hairdressing Funding: Subsidised by Train2GainDuration: One day per week for 36 weeks Start Dates: September 2010 What will I do on the course? The course runs for 36 weeks with attendance at the training salon one day per week. To gain the Certificate, competence must be achieved in 9 units and course attendance must be above 80%.You will work towards building a portfolio of evidence and your work will be continuously assessed throughout the course by written and oral questions and assignments. You will also be assessed by practical observation, most of which will be carried out at your workplace. There is no final examination. How will I benefit?You will update your knowledge and skills and gain two certificates that are recognised throughout Europe. You will improve your career prospects in management and training.
Course outline Level 3 Hairdressing is designed for experienced hairdressers wishing to develop specialist skills in hairdressing for African Caribbean hair types. These qualifications are centred on learning the theory rather than practising the skills.What will I need to join? This programme is for hairdressers who have a strong background of practical experience and who wish to be fully qualified in their profession. To gain entry to the course you should have:
All students will need to attend an individual interview prior to the start of the course.
Trade test and diagnostic testing will take place prior to the start of the course. To fulfil Health & Safety requirements you will need to wear appropriate protectiveclothing and use your own equipment. Required items can be purchased through Salon Strategies, if necessary.

Booking conditionsPlaces on the Salon Strategies Career Makeover programme are granted on a first come, first served basis. The course is FREE to eligible applicants and it is therefore advisable to BOOK EARLY in order to ensure a place.
Although the Career Makeover programme is heavily subsidised, due to the nature of the project and the costs involved in delivering it, an equipment, registration and administrative fee of £300 will be charged to all applicants. Applicants cancelling less than two weeks before the start of the programme will be charged a cancellation fee of £3000 with an option to transfer to a later programme if required.
